SAR and Health Care Workshop

SAR and Health Care Workshop

Date: Saturday 17 June 2023
Venue: Maritime Training Centre, Rotterdam (STC-KNRM)
Time: 9am – 5pm
Cost: Free
Registrations Closing: 1 June 2023

Search and Rescue organisations have implemented various systems to deliver medical care on board of their rescue vessels, including differences in equipment, required competencies, training, registration, responsibility, and transfer to land-based health systems. At this moment, there is no accepted minimum requirements for these systems nor a gold standard.

The full-day workshop SAR and Health Care will address the equipment, training and quality of medical care on board of SAR vessels. Participants will learn how different organisations have organized their medical care and exchange the experiences with the various systems. The aim of the workshop is identifying common problems encountered and where quality improvement is possible.

This will be an interactive workshop. Before arriving at the workshop, the participants are expected to do some homework, allowing an effective start and informed data input. A report will be published that summarizes the content and conclusions of the workshop.

The maximum number of participants is 20, with a maximum of 2 participants per organisation. To be able to actively contribute to the workshop, participants preferably should be a training-coordinator, medical advisor or senior first-aid / health care instructor.

The full-day workshop (9am – 5pm) is hosted by the KNRM and there is no registration fee. Transport between the WMRC 2023 (ss Rotterdam) and the workshop location (STC-KNRM, Quarantaineweg 98, 3089 KP Rotterdam – Heijplaat) will be arranged. The participants need to take care of their own (extra) overnight stay when needed.
